Realism in Movies

So a few days ago I went to the movies with a couple of friends to go see Chronicle again since I liked it the first time I saw it. While waiting for the movie to start, we sat in our seats and started talking about other movies that are coming out in theatres soon.

As we are talking before the movie I hear someone start talking about the third Transformers movie and how they didn't like it because it was unrealistic. I started thinking to myself that I really liked the movie and that it was better than the first one so I waited to hear what he had to say that was so unrealistic about it.

He said that the movie was unrealistic because the first few jets that tried to fly into the city got shot out of the sky in like two seconds while later on people were still able to sneak into the city anyways.

Because that really is the reason why that movie is so unrealistic since it's not unusual to see giant alien robots fight each other over a planet and ends up summoning half of another planet from another side of space to earth without the extra gravitational force doing anything to our planet before it like blows up. But a airplane getting shot out of the sky while a small group of people sneaking in from the ground is what makes the movie seem so unlikely to happen.

Anyways, who cares if the movie is realistic or not? Science Fiction movies aren't suppose to be realistic, hence the name science FICTION. And even if it wasn't science fiction movies are suppose to be unrealistic, without that factor most movies would probably not be as good as they are now.
